The structure of the website is the organization of the content areas on the page. This category of variance considers structures like headers, columns, footers and similar elements.

  • Columns. Common 1, 2 or 3 column format, typical in blogs.
    • Arch. A prominent banner supported by two columns
  • Block. Rectangular, but not in columns or enough blocks to be a grid.
  • [Grid]. Major style is a grid, though not necessarily with even sized boxes.
  • Free Form. Free Form usually has a full-screen graphic and small content areas that appear as picture frames, tags, tickets, signs, etc.
  • Foyer. Minimal front page. This is possibly either a very simple block structure or a square freeform structure.
  • Bucket. Page is dominated by two to four roughly square areas, arranged horizontally.
  • [ColumnGrid]. The column structure is apparent, put within the columns are smaller regions that often line up with regions in other columns.
  • [BlockColumn]. Block structure, but within blocks are columns that line up with columns in other blocks.
